Seamless Multi-Model Transit
Navigating multiple transfers can overwhelm anyone, but my byACRE Carbon Ultralight's frame made switching between transit types effortless.
Managing my rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis means every extra kilogram puts my fragile bones and inflamed joints at risk. This is my fourth rollator in 15 years of disability, and this machine represents a massive leap forward in mobility technology.
- The Route: Taxi from home ➔ Marylebone Station ➔ Taxi to St Pancras ➔ Eurostar ➔ Paris ➔ Taxi to Hotel.
- The Lifting Advantage: Transport staff and helpers were pleasantly surprised by the lack of strain. This protected them from back injuries and saved me from painful pulling forces on my wrists and shoulders.
- The Pack Mule Capability: Despite its sleek frame, it served as a sturdy "hod carrier." It safely transported a heavy bag of travel drinks, personal items, and a celebratory bottle of champagne without compromising stability.
- I haven’t accessorised my byACRE.

Testing the Parisian Terrain
Paris is world-famous for its beauty, but its historic architecture presents unique physical challenges for joint degeneration and bone density.
Kerbs and Cobbles: The lighter frame significantly reduced joint impact when going up and down kerbs, protecting an arthritic spine and limbs from harsh shocks. Having used various models over 15 years, I immediately noticed how much gentler this frame is on my body. While short stretches of cobblestones were manageable, my joints quickly felt the vibration. The experience proved that while the carbon fibre model conquered the city, my Off-Road model will be vital for rougher ground to prevent arthritis flare-ups or osteoporosis fractures.

The Paris Itinerary
- A hop-on tourist bus and scenic river cruise.
- A demanding 4-mile uphill hike to the iconic Sacré-Cœur—a massive feat for anyone managing chronic joint pain.
- Negotiating hundreds of steps at various historic points of interest, where lightweight equipment is essential to avoid overexertion.
- Gentle, stylish strolls through high-fashion Parisian boutiques.
- An atmospheric, moonlit river dinner cruise (even without the moon!).

Moments of Connection & Accessibility
My sleek mobility aid didn't just help me move; it started conversations and turned heads in one of the fashion capitals of the world.
- The Style Evolution: Until this byACRE model, I have never viewed a rollator as an accessory—only ever as a functional piece of equipment. This one, however, is beautiful enough to be a very functional fashion statement, built like an aerodynamic Formula One car.
- Peer Approval: Received high praise and positive comments from a local wheelchair user.
- The Reality Check: The trip highlighted critical gaps where historic areas remain frustratingly inaccessible, reinforcing how vital lightweight, advanced engineering is for travellers with complex health needs.
- The Ultimate Compliment: A very chic Parisian woman stopped me to ask about the rollator for her mother. She took photos, noted the manufacturer details, and happily called her mother on the spot with the details.

"Rollators are an essential piece of equipment for me. Without them, I would be dependent on a wheelchair and reliant on other people to get me out."
