byACRE Venn Diagram of features

Reliable Wheels

The large, soft Polyurethane (PUR) tyres provide a smooth ride on any surface, making it the ultimate rollator for every use. The tyres are puncture-proof, giving you peace of mind you won't be without your walker.

Reassuring Brakes

The integrated brakes make the superior design and function of the Nordic Pioneer exceptional - every tiny detail has been made with the user experience foremost. The Nordic Pioneer is easy to transport due to being so light and easy to manoeuvre either in the car, on public transport or when travelling.

Thoughtful Handles

The unique design of the soft, forward-facing handles promotes a good, upright posture. Enabling the user to draw the rollator close to their body, where it provides support at the core, thereby placing less strain on the back, neck and shoulders while walking.

Colours

The Pioneer outdoor rollator comes in two unique colours. A refreshing Glacier Green designed to make you stand out from the crowd and brighten up your day every time you lay eyes on it. Accompanying the Glacier Green is the elegant and timeless Graphite Black which is a little more discrete for someone wanted to blend in.

Mesh Bag

Included with the Pioneer, is a stylish mesh bag that attaches to the front of the rollator. It has an open top for quick access to your items and is made from durable material. The elastic loops make it easy to attach to the Pioneer and can stay on the rollator when folded.

No more trying to juggle your shopping, purse, or smaller items while walking with your rollator. The mesh bag can carry up to 5kg and provides ample room with a 10-litre capacity, whilst still looking sleek. There is no need to remove the bag as it folds with the rollator.

EPP Frame

The byACRE Nordic Pioneer outdoor rollator is made from lightweight, durable Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) sitting on top of strong yet lightweight aluminium. EPP is an exceptionally versatile closed-cell bead foam that has a wide range of special properties, including excellent energy absorption, multiple impact resistance, thermal insulation, buoyancy, water and chemical resistance, particularly high strength-to-weight ratio.

It is important to note that EPP is 100% recyclable. Responsibly made, the sustainable, all-purpose, rollator has reduced the environmental impact and is made entirely of recyclable materials. The rollator is designed and made in Europe using a low energy consumption.

Key Benefits of EPP

  • 100% Recyclable - Recycled material grades containing granulated end-of-life parts.
  • Sound Deadening - Can dampen absorb or block sound. Porous EPP can provide enhanced acoustic insulation.
  • Impact Absorption - Excellent resilience and cushioning qualities, EPP reforms to its original shape after an impact
  • Strength - Durable with a high strength-to-weight ratio.
  • Thermal Insulation - Outstanding thermal insulation for both hot and cold applications.
  • Lightweight - Generates weight saving in components leading to fuel efficiencies across many modes of transport.

Worth it

I have CFS with a constant tremor and frequent orthostatic intolerance. I hesitated over buying this because sadly I'm never going to be walking long distances let alone on a regular basis so I wondered whether it was worth the plunge for the amount of occasional small distance usage I'd get. I've waited a month to review it to see how I got on but can definitely say this has been a great buy. I don't use it anything like every day but when I do I find it far more stable than a walking stick. It gives me much more stability and confidence and it positively glides and feels really effortless. The wheels are amazing and so manoeuvrable, but the brakes work perfectly on a slope to stop it running away so you always feel in control. I find I don't think about my movements as much as I do with a stick which is fabulous., I still wobble but I feel more fluid and supported and can concentrate on where I am and what I'm seeing rather than worrying about staying stable. The fact it doesn't look like an old lady aid also makes me feel much more comfortable using it, plus I love having a seat with me wherever I go. Overall it helps me feel more confident and relaxed when I do have the energy to get outside and even if that's not often or very far, anything that supports a bit more normality is well worth it. On the downside the EPP cladding did tear as my husband caught it on the car boot getting it out one day so despite saying it's bump resistant it didn't survive that and now has a bit of obvious cosmetic damage to the side. The handles are easily adjustable but I also find one slides up and down very easily while one always feels sticky and catches and for our small boot we do have to put them down for travel so there's always a bit of fiddling with one side. I'd also say while it definitely is light for a rollator it's worth remembering that if you have fatigue and muscle weakness issues (I can struggle lifting a kettle on a bad day) it's still not something you'll want to be lifting a lot or very high and I'd personally struggle to lift it into a car myself. I also think it's more suited to open spaces so think about where you might want to use it. I suspect the ultralight might be narrower and better if you want to go into an office or corner store for example. Assist Mobility were also great to buy from - very quick delivery and excellent communications. Despite a few niggles overall I'm very pleased with this purchase and think it's worth every penny. It is pricey but I figure over 10 years or so the cost per use is going to be pretty reasonable and especially balanced against the benefit of being able to bring a bit more ease and comfort to those chances to get out as and when they arise. ..

Stylish & sturdy

I haven't yet had the opportunity to test "drive" comprehensively, but, from what little I have, it will suit my requirements admirably.

A very stylish and practical rollator

I am very pleased with my rollator. It is very easy to manipulate and I find that walking within it, I can stand upright, keeping my back straight and making walking much easier. I had a slight problem with my original rollator, but Assist
Mobility were very helpful and replaced it without issue and very promptly. On my first trip to the local supermarket a young woman quizzed me about the rollator and took details as she could see that it would be useful for her mother, who had a more traditional heavier rollator.

byACRE Nordic Pioneer Rollator

Firstly, the outstanding care and helpful advice given by your member of staff during the purchase process was greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I am impressed by the overall quality and design of the Rollator; however I have experienced some difficulty where the numerous driveways from neighbouring houses mean the pavements are frequently not horizontal but slope down towards the kerbside. As a consequence, when the Rollator is pushed, the front steering wheels lurch towards the kerb creating an unstable movement for the walker. A fast reaction applying the brake has so far avoided an accident. (In fact, several neighbours have expressed similar problems when pushing relatives in wheelchairs.)
I suspect the Rollator's instability is caused by the front wheels having excessive movement from the straight line. If they could be restricted to a limited deviation from the straight line this might rectify the problem.
As a consequence I am reluctant to take frequent solo local walks for health benefits which is disappointing.
Have you had similar reports of this problem and, as a consequence, is a solution being developed? Currently I would summarise that the Rollator is not totally "fit for purpose" unlelss it is modified.

The seat has now been received, thank you. Unfortunately I did not find it as easy to fit as anticipated, not helped by the explanatory video going too fast.

light as air

I love it. It feels as light as air when I'm walking with it. It tackles kerbs with ease, no struggling over bumpy terrain and it folds up with one hand to go in the boot of a car. I can walk much further now with my pioneer and its given me so much more freedom. I took it to my hospital appointment yesterday (something I couldn't have dreamt of with my old walker) and managed the long corridors, with a short rest on the seat partway. Its worth the extra money you pay for the freedom it gives you and the sheer pleasure of walking again. Thank you. My only quibble is that you don't include the backstrap with the rollator,( which I've now ordered). Please note, this would be a big help especially as its an expensive item already.
